AN OWNER'S plans for an extension and a new gym at his home didn't work out as Fife Council have refused permission.

Jasdeep Singh, of Camps Road in Carnock, submitted a part-retrospective application for works that were started almost two years ago.

He sought consent for the erection of a single storey extension, an outbuilding comprising a garage and gym, boundary wall and fence and the formation of a raised decking, but this has now been turned down.

Asked to explain on the form why work had started (in July 2021) ahead of the application being submitted, it said the "applicant's consultant advised no consent required".

Although two letters of objection were received, with concerns about the design of the extension and outbuilding, noise, visual impact, loss of privacy and sunlight, a council report addressed these points and officers were satisfied there would be no "significant impact".

However, the plans fell foul due to a lack of detail on drainage.

A report said that "insufficient information has been submitted to demonstrate that the proposal would have no significant adverse impacts on surface water drainage".

It said the proposal was therefore contrary to FIFEplan, the council's local development plan.

The letter of refusal advised how Mr Singh could submit an appeal.
