ROSYTH began their pre-season preparations on Saturday with a good workout against near neighbours Cowdenbeath.
The Lowland League outfit, under the charge of new manager, Calum Elliot, made the short trip to the Fleet Grounds to play Greig Denham's East of Scotland League, First Division side, who were able to take plenty away from the match.
Featuring some new faces, the home side competed well in hot conditions, and drew level before the break when Aiden McAvoy's corner was glanced home by Campbell Tully, cancelling out Ewan Macpherson's opener for the Blue Brazil.
However, with just over 10 minutes to go, Cowden claimed victory when Jack Docherty's low free-kick from 20 yards found its way into the Rosyth net.
Denham's side are in pre-season action again this weekend, welcoming Dundonald Bluebell to the Fleet Grounds.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, Jason Dair's first match in charge of Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts saw them lose out to SPFL League Two East Fife at Dalgety Bay Leisure Centre.
Former Kelty Hearts star Nathan Austin, who left for New Bayview, where he began his senior career, in the summer, opened the scoring after seven minutes, before Jack Healy doubled the advantage shortly after.
Ryan Schiavone completed the scoring late on, and the Swifts are back in action, this Saturday, at home to Newburgh.
