A Dunfermline man was found sleeping in the driver’s seat of a car when he was more than seven times over the limit.

Tomasz Bajda, 37, of Calaiswood Crescent, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court with a Polish translator.

He admitted that on September 4 at Whimbrel Place, Fife Leisure Park, he was in charge of car having consumed excess alcohol.

His reading was 168 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 22 microgrammes.

Depute fiscal Eve McKaig said police had been called to the car by a concerned member of the public.

Bajda was sleeping the driver’s seat and the keys were on the passenger’s seat.

Defence solicitor Brian Black said his client had little recollection of the incident. He could vaguely recall his wife driving the car and them having an argument.

He did not know where she had gone or why he was in the driver’s seat, added the solicitor.

Sheriff Charles Macnair banned Bajda from driving for 16 months and fined him £675.
