GUIDES from Dalgety Bay have been helping their Canadian counterparts as part of an international exchange.
A total of 12 Guides visited Scotland for five days and their Fife hosts have been on hand to show them sights including the Kelpies, the Falkirk Wheel, the Wallace Monument, St Andrews, the Fife Coastal Path and the V&A Museum in Dundee.
After a day trip to Edinburgh to end the Scotland-leg of the trip, the Canada visitors headed to York before making their way to London.
In return for the Scottish adventure, the girls from Dalgety Bay and Kirkcaldy have been invited to travel to Canada in 2024 for their own international experience.
The friendship formed after everyone had to evacuate their camp at Charnwood early as torrential rain turned the ground into a mud bath.
The weather didn’t dampen the girls’ spirits and the bond they formed has survived an ocean, a pandemic preventing travel, and the last four years.
Canadian Girl Guide Beth said: “I’ve enjoyed travelling around and visiting all the cool places here. I love how welcoming everyone is and eager to share their culture with us."
As part of their day trip to Scotland’s capital city, both groups from Canada and Fife were greeted at Girlguiding Scotland’s HQ where they all enjoyed a selection of Scottish treats – including Shortbread, Tunnocks Teacakes and Irn Bru.
The leaders from Canada also gifted Girlguiding Scotland’s CEO and Deputy Scottish Chief Commissioner with friendship bracelets.
