A high climbing daredevil has been fined for going to the top of the Forth Road Bridge.

Ally Law, who has over three million followers on YouTube, was also banned from climbing any other bridges or buildings in Scotland.

A sheriff said the escapade came close to ending in disaster.

Law, 26, of Hapworth Close, Southampton, was found guilty after a trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court in March.

He was convicted of a charge that on July 16, 2020 he committed a breach of the peace by climbing along a cable to the top of the north tower on the Forth Road Bridge.

Sentencing had been delayed for the preparation of a social work report with Law now living in Dubai.

Sheriff Charles Macnair had watched a video of the stunt and told Law he was fortunate it did not end in tragedy when his companion ran down a cable towards him.

He went on: “This person was acting in an extremely reckless manner.

"If he had not stopped in time, he would have collided with you and it would have been likely that you both would have fallen to your death.”

He fined Law £1,375 and imposed an anti-social behaviour order banning him from climbing any artificial structures, such as bridges and buildings.

He is already subject to a similar order in England.

Law said afterwards: “I don’t do any of that stuff anymore. I’m trying to stay out of trouble these days. I’m done with all this.

“I’m doing travel videos and things like that now. I won’t be coming back to the Forth bridges.”

He has previously climbed all three of the bridges at North Queensferry.

Law said he was hoping to fly back to Dubai in the next few days. He is making a new life there with his girlfriend, who is pregnant.

Two other men, who also climbed the bridge that day, admitted their guilt last November and were each fined £1,675.
