FRESH plans have been lodged by Dunfermline veteran JJ Chalmers for a family home next to Pittencrieff Park.

The former Royal Marine turned TV presenter is seeking permission to build a house at Nethertown Lodge on West Nethertown Street.

The proposals would see the creation of a two storey, four to five bedroom home with an attached one and three quarter storey annex studio with office, gym/games room and single storey double garage.

A supporting statement from Claymore Timber Frame Ltd said the site already has planning permission in principle and is a sustainable infill site on underdeveloped and unused vacant land which formerly belonged to Nethertown Lodge.

It explained that the development has been reduced from two homes with an ancillary studio and garage standalone because planners felt the site would be overdeveloped.

“The height of the ground floor has also been reduced and natural screening and gradient sloping ground has been used meaning that the impact and scale of the house is reduced,” explained the planning statement.

“The proposal is designed to integrate with local landscape and adjacent residential uses.

“The proposal following consultation and compromise by the clients is now entirely appropriate hopefully for the site so we respectfully request that full planning permission can be granted for the new proposed scheme allowing our clients and their family to relocate within his home town and become a valued member of the community as well as being able to contribute to the local infrastructure and spend money in the local shops, leisure and restaurants in the local area.”
