PLANS to demolish old and unpopular blocks of flats in Touch and replace them with new homes are being finalised.
Fife Council unveiled proposals in June to knock down 94 properties and 48 lock-up garages on Law Road and Henryson Road as part of the estate's regeneration and two public consultation meetings were held earlier this month.
A second phase would include flats at Gilfillan Road and Peirson Road and councillors will now be asked to back the plans at the next City of Dunfermline area committee.
Housing manager Lynne Johnston confirmed: "There has been community consultation and we're due to come to committee in October with a plan to seek member approval for development in Touch.
"It's really important that whatever we do in the area is with the community."
Tenants and residents were asked for their views on plans that would see existing properties flattened and the building of new council homes.
At the time, housing spokesperson Councillor Judy Hamilton had explained: "Various options have been considered for the area over recent years, but the rising costs of the major work needed to improve the flats means it's not financially viable.

"Anti-social behaviour is also an issue in the area and the proposal is therefore to demolish these blocks and build new council homes in their place."
Any demolition work would not start until all residents can be re-housed and it's hoped new homes could be available from early 2029.
In 2016 the Press reported that Fife Council had ruled out demolition as an option and would instead set aside millions of pounds to improve around 300 properties in Touch.
However, Cllr Hamilton said recently that it wasn't "financially viable" to fix and repair the homes.
