THERE are plans to convert a former bookies and an empty shop into a new "large scale" restaurant in the centre of Dunfermline.
TRI Scotland, of Longniddry, have outlined proposals to knock down the wall between 19 and 21 Bruce Street to create one big diner with a 'customer capacity' of 131.
Although the application to Fife Council has been withdrawn, the company's agents confirmed that was due to a request for more information and that fresh plans will be forthcoming.

The premises in question, the old Carpet Shop at 19 Bruce Street and the former Betfred at 21 Bruce Street, have been empty for some time and have contributed to the street's rundown look.
If the new business is approved, and details on the name and the kind of cuisine they'll serve are under wraps for now, it would be a next door neighbour of Incontri, the Italian restaurant, and a couple of doors down from the 1703 bar and restaurant.
The former bookies is over 1,500 square feet in size while the old carpet store is more than 2,000 square feet.
The initial plans, which may now be tweaked, show seating for more than 130 people as well as a bar, waiting area, kitchen, toilets, office, storage and staff area.

There would also be alterations to the existing shopfronts and a new ramp up to the double swing entrance doors.
The new application to the council, when tabled, will seek consent to change the uses of the shop and bookmakers to restaurant.
