Two 17-year-old youths, who carried out a violent attack in Kelty leaving their victim severely injured, have appeared in court for sentencing.
The pair, who cannot be named for legal reasons, both admitted committing the assault on a 16-year-old youth in the grounds of a local school.
At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, they admitted that on July 10 last year at St Joseph’s Primary School, Cocklaw Street, Kelty, whilst acting together.
They assaulted the boy by repeatedly punching, kicking, strikes with the knee to his head and body and they held him against a wall, all to his severe injury.
Depute fiscal Laura McManus said the victim was with two friends in the school grounds when they were approached by the two attackers.
The pair made it clear they wanted to fight with the boy and then began punching him.
The victim was repeatedly punched by both of the youths, sustaining a broken nose. He was also repeatedly kicked on a leg which had recently been operated on.
Sheriff Francis Gill went off the bench to consider the sentencing. When he returned, one of the youths had gone home with his mum who had child care responsibilities.
Sentencing on this youth was deferred until January 10.
The other attacker was fined £320 and ordered to pay £300 compensation.
