A Dunfermline Primary School held breakfast mornings for pupils and their families last week.

Carnegie Primary School invited children and their families to the school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to enjoy a healthy breakfast together.

Donna Parker, depute headteacher at Carnegie Primary School, said: “We get about 50 families come per day and about 150 families participating in the event.

“It’s amazing to see our families come in and spend that time together.”

The breakfasts started at 8.30am each day and lasted for around 45 minutes.

The school does run a normal breakfast club solely for children but the idea to have one for children and their families was the idea of headteacher Julie Journeaux. The breakfast mornings are a good opportunity for families to have that time with their children and socialise with other parents and carers.

Donna added: “We also have a lot of vulnerable families I suppose who need that food in the morning, who need that extra bit of help.”

The SPAR just across the road from the school provided most of the food for the breakfasts including cereals, fruit juices, and other breakfast items.

“They have provided most of it for us and it’s really amazing.” Added Donna.
