IT looks like they'll be counting more sheep near Hillend if a firm's plans get the go-ahead.

Work on the 3 Bridges Vets site at Fordell Firs was only completed in January of this year and now they've outlined expansion plans.

If their application to Fife Council is approved they'll build a single storey extension to their existing sheep reproduction and veterinary building.

It would be 36 square metres in size and they're also planning two more car parking spaces.

Dr Hannah McKerrow, director of the firm, previously explained the "very specialist" nature of their work.

She said: "3 Bridges Vets will offer advanced sheep reproductive services including semen collection, analysis and processing, laparoscopic artificial insemination, multiple ovulation embryo collection and transfer services.

"These services allow genetic gains within the sheep flock, improvement of overall flock reproductive potential and efficiency, and preservation of valuable livestock genetics.

“As well as allowing the export of sheep genetics via embryos and semen worldwide.”

Only two other companies based in Scotland provide this service which effectively involves bringing sheep to the centre off Clockluine Road for 'day surgery', including embryo transfer and artificial insemination.

As well as providing veterinary services to farm animals all-year round, 3 Bridges Vets also caters for household pets and horses.

The advanced sheep reproduction and veterinary service is located close to the Fordell Firs Scout Centre, with planning permission granted in October last year.
