Members of a Dunfermline dance school are preparing to head to the USA next summer for a major competition.

The Dance Bank have announced that both their junior and senior competition teams will be going to New York and Atlantic City to compete in the Starpower National Talent finals in June 2024.

The dancers qualified for the competition at Sevenoaks in Kent.

“They just swept the board, and it was incredible,” said Rhona McNab, principal of The Dance Bank.

Now the dancers are in preparation for their trip to America.

Rhona added: “Some of the girls are with us four days a week, but they mainly rehearse for the competitions one day a week, then they have got all their normal classes as well, generally keeping up the standard of dance that they need to do.”

Rhona said: “There’s everything from ballet, contemporary, musical - just everything that all the dance competitions do.”

The pupils heading across to the USA have their flights and accommodation booked, and they are constantly fundraising for their trip.

The pupils going to the competition range in age from 11 to 18 years old. The competition is running from June 24 to 28, but Rhona said: “They hope to arrive a bit before and leave a bit after it and take in New York.

"The dancers are hoping to have some free time to take in a Broadway show."
