Negotiations have been taking place over the former Debenhams unit in Dunfermline’s Kingsgate Shopping Centre.
Neil Mackie, Kingsgate Centre Manager, said: “As it stands at the moment it’s still empty, however, probably for about a year now we have been in negotiations with potential occupiers.”

As previously reported in the Press, Debenhams permanently closed all its stores in 2021.
Neil added: “I would say the loss of Debenhams has been felt nationally, you know when I look at the impact its had on Kingsgate, but also compared to what it’s done to Glasgow city centre, what it’s done to Stirling, it’s a catastrophic loss to the high street.”
The unit Debenhams used to occupy has now been sub-divided.
“We have sub-divided it so potentially we are looking at two occupiers rather than one now," said Neil. "Just keep watching this space, we are getting there!”
