RESIDENTS of a Dunfermline care home are treated with kindness by staff that know them well, according to Care Inspectorate inspectors.
An unannounced visit from the regulatory body took place at Newlands Residential Home in October.
They found that families felt valued, and staff and management at the Thistle Street facility were approachable and welcoming.
However they did highlight some areas needing improvement which included staff training and quality assurance.
The inspection report, which provided an adequate rating, said people were being supported by staff who knew them well and treated them with respect.

"People told us they were happy living there, 'wouldn't want to be anywhere else' and 'staff will help you with anything.'" it added. "All the families we spoke to reported high satisfaction with the care that was being provided.
"People enjoyed home cooked meals with a range of choices being available. We saw staff offering discreet support and assistance as required. The chef was proactive in gathering people's views on their meals, with taster sessions provided to guide the menu choices.
"We were confident that people's dietary needs were being met."
The report said support plans varied in content with some holding "sufficient" person centred information to guide the care and support.
"This was not consistent with some risk assessments and information relating to people experiencing stress and distress not evident," it stated.
"This could impact on staff being able to provide a consistent approach when delivering care, impacting on positive outcomes for people."
Inspectors issued a requirement that by January 2024, the provider must ensure that the health, welfare, and safety needs of people receiving care are met in relation to care planning and risk assessments.
By the same date, the home must also ensure that staffing is well managed to ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing needs of service users are met and they experience positive outcomes.
This must include staff receiving regular supervision and appraisals to ensure their learning and development needs are assessed, reviewed, and addressed.
The home was also told that it must ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities in making required notifications to relevant bodies.
