A Halbeath man has been put a ‘tag’ after causing a disturbance in Dunfermline High Street.

Lee McGuinness, 40, of Fod Street, who also kicked and spat at police officers, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on October 27 at Dunfermline High Street, he repeatedly shouted, swore, made threats towards police, refused to desist when asked, repeatedly kicked and headbutted the inside of a police van whilst shouting threats.

At Dunfermline police station, he assaulted a police officer by kicking him on the body and spitting on him.

He also assaulted a second officer by kicking him and spitting on him.

Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson said that police had received a report of an “aggressive male” in the high Street.

McGuinness immediately became hostile to officers when they arrived. He was shouting and swearing at them and as a result was put in handcuffs.

He was making threats to officers saying they would be “shot in the head”.

Once in the police van, he began headbutting the walls and continued to make threats.

He spat at the officers striking one of them in the eye.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “He’s very remorseful. His father had just died and this occurred between the death and the funeral.”

He added that his client had been intoxicated and remembers little of what happened.

Sheriff Francis Gill imposed a four-month restriction of liberty order.
