Three musical siblings from Dunfermline have won a prestigious award at this year’s MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
As previously reported in The Press, The Shands were shortlisted for the Up and Coming Artist of the Year award, which they won!
Clelland (18), Blythe (17), and Inver (15) won the award at the ceremony held on Saturday, December 2 in Caird Hall, Dundee. Their category was sponsored by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) and the head of the traditional music department, Professor Joshua Dickson, presented the trio with their award.

The Shands said: “We are absolutely delighted and feel honoured to have won this award as some of the top Folk bands on our scene today have won this category in the past.

“We did celebrate on the night and attended the after awards ceilidh which was held in the Caird Hall. It was great fun and attended by all the artists that performed on the night along with all the other award winners and nominees.
“We are treating it is an early Christmas present for us all however we are also looking forward to celebrating further with family and friends over the festive period.”
