THE West Fife Guide Dogs Scotland team is looking for more people to join them in fundraising.
They are looking for volunteers to help them with stalls, events and spreading the word about the work that Guide Dogs Scotland does.
Diane MacLeod, one of the West Fife volunteers, said: "Fundraising for Guide Dogs is fun, who wouldn’t enjoy being in the company of like-minded people, guide dog pups, support dogs and at times working guide dogs or spending time with people talking about the dogs and other services Guide Dogs offer?
"We enjoy meeting the public, catching up with our team colleagues at regular events and making new friends as we welcome new volunteers. We enjoy the variety of events booked and locations we visit.
"The role is so flexible we make it fit with our own priorities. There's no pressure.
"We’re informed when and where events are and put our names forward if we can cover a slot usually for an hour, more if we prefer.
"We're never alone and there is full support for anyone new to the role."
A great opportunity to get out there and meet people who share your interests while giving back to a charity that does so much.
Diane continued: "At events, we set up stalls, serve customers, hold collection buckets, chat with people, answer as many questions as we can and most of all we promote guide dog awareness.
"At the end of the day it’s hands-on to pack up our stall, ready for the next event.
"As registered volunteers, we wear our free blue guide dog tops, our blues, with pride and enjoy being Guide Dog Ambassadors."
But that isn't all you can do as a Guide Dog Scotland volunteer, there are opportunities to run and organise events, or take on a specific role within the team, for example, you could come on as a Fundraising Group Coordinators, Deputy Coordinators, Merchandise Coordinator, or a Group Treasurer.
Diane added: "For volunteers, being part of the Guide Dogs family means we're helping more people with sight loss to live actively, independently, and well, what better reward can there be for a few hours of our time?"
