DUNFERMLINE Abbey has hosted one of 12 community carol services organised across the UK aimed at bringing people together at Christmas.
The event took place in early December in support of The Princess of Wales returning to Westminster Abbey to host a special Christmas carol service which will be aired on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
Hosted by Lord-Lieutenants and supported by The Royal Foundation, these services were also supported by Hobbycraft and Co-op through the provision of items to enhance guest experiences and help create magical community events, including refreshments, decorations and gifts.
This year, the Westminster Abbey Service linked to Her Royal Highness’ Shaping Us campaign showcasing the hope of new life and why it is so important to build supportive, nurturing worlds around children and the adults in their lives.
The twelve community carol services, including the one in Dunfermline Abbey, were bespoke to the locations they are in and provide a moment for people to come together at Christmas time and celebrate community work during the festive season.
The services were an opportunity to share a special thank you to those who are supporting the youngest children in our society in those crucial early years.
Guests who attended this special service were invited by the Lord-Lieutenant, in recognition of the support they are providing to children and families in their community.
Amanda Berry, CEO of The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, said “I am delighted that these community carol services were a part of our Together at Christmas initiative.
"Christmas is a time for being with others, and for remembering the hope that new life brings. The community carol services across the UK provided a wonderful opportunity to thank those incredible individuals helping the youngest members in our society in those crucial early years.
"We know just how important it is to build supportive, nurturing worlds around children and the adults in their lives.”
‘Royal Carols: Together at Christmas’ service will be broadcast on STV at 7.45pm on Christmas Eve.
