Dunfermline-based Thomson Cooper Accountants have made a donation of over £10,000 to the firm’s ‘Charity of the Year’.

The Thomson Cooper team chose their favourite organisation from a selection of charitable causes at the beginning of 2023. Marie Curie, which provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, was chosen.

Last year, Marie Curie cared for over 40,000 people across the UK, including 3,200 visits to people in their own homes across Fife.

Cathy Scott, chair of the Marie Curie Fundraising Group Dunfermline, said: "A massive thank you to everyone for your incredible support. Your generosity has made a huge difference, and we couldn't be more grateful.

"Thomson Cooper's dedication has resulted in the equivalent of over 400 hours of vital community nursing care for those bravely facing terminal illnesses. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone for choosing Marie Curie as your Charity of the Year - your commitment is truly changing lives."

Thomson Cooper, which also has an office in Edinburgh, has had a year-long fundraising campaign which included a ten-pin bowling event in May, a star jump challenge in July, a Halloween bake-off, a raffle at their farming client dinner in November and a ‘Festive Fivers’ competition among staff.

Andrew Croxford, senior partner at Thomson Cooper, said: “It is with great satisfaction and pride that we make this announcement. We set ourselves a target of £10,000 at the beginning, knowing we would need to get creative to reach that goal. This achievement was only made possible by the generosity of our supporters and team members who have contributed to achieving this significant milestone.

Together, we've shown that amazing things can happen when we come together for a cause we truly care about. Thanks to everyone involved.”
