Young Muslim volunteers have started the new year with a park clean up to keep the local environment clean.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Edinburgh and Fife held a park clean up at Rosyth Public Park on Monday, January 1. The volunteers had an early start with morning prayers and then breakfast before the clean up.
Hashir Ahmad, youth leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Edinburgh and Fife, said: “We believe keeping our local environment clean is a vital part of our faith as once the Holy Prophet of Islam Mohammad (peace be upon him) explained ‘cleanliness is half of the faith’.”

Over 20 members from Dunfermline, Rosyth, Edinburgh, Stirling, and Kirkcaldy came together to help in the national campaign which was also being carried out by other communities across the UK.
Prior to the event, the community also made and provided over 80 hot food parcels to three local homeless shelters in Dunfermline and donated to food banks in the city.
