A 17-YEAR-OLD has been arrested after a Raith Rovers fan was attacked by a gang outside East End Park.

And Police Scotland are still searching for the other thugs who punched and kicked the supporter after the Fife derby.

This afternoon Inspector Neil McGurk said: “A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the assault of an 18-year-old man which happened in Dunfermline around 5.30pm on Tuesday, January 2 following the Dunfermline Athletic v Raith Rovers football fixture.

"Enquiries are ongoing to trace others involved.”

A video circulating on social media showed a man being attacked by a mob.

Insp McGurk said that "this type of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated".

He confirmed that an 18-year-old Raith fan was taken to the Victoria Hospital.

Dunfermline Athletic slammed the "horrible" attack and promised to ban any supporter who was involved.

In a statement they said: "Dunfermline Athletic are aware of a video circulating on social media last night.

"The club condemns all forms of violence in the strongest possible way and we will support the authorities in identifying any individuals involved.

"We will work with Raith Rovers to ensure that the supporter involved receives the support they need.

"Any supporter found to have taken part in this horrible act will be banned from KDM Group East End Park."
