Dunfermline has been named the best city in the UK for quality of life in 2024.
Research carried out by real estates company Savills and The Telegraph looked to find the cities which offered the best combination of value for money and a high standard of living.
And Scotland's newest city came out on top, due to its affordability - well-paid jobs, comparatively low house prices, and a favourable ratio of property costs to household income - as well as being somewhere which is "teeming with culture and amenities".
Admittedly, according to the research, one of Dunfermline's great strengths is its proximity to Edinburgh and the capital's large jobs market, particularly in the financial sector.
But the average house price in Dunfermline was found to be more than £133,000 cheaper than in Edinburgh, and the Fife city has more to offer in its own right too.
There's Dunfermline's history as the ancient capital of Scotland, a destination for pilgrims, and, in Dunfermline Abbey, the resting place for some of Scotland’s greatest medieval monarchs.
Pittencrieff Park and the city's peacocks were also mentioned, along with Townhill Loch - the national waterskiing training centre - and Country Park to the north of Dunfermline, and just along the road in Aberdour, Silver Sands beach, highlighting easy access to the great outdoors.
And to cap it all, Dunfermline was found to have a "buzzing scene of independent businesses and makers". with the Fire Station Creative, The Secret Door antique shop and the bakery 269 Vegan gaining a reference in the findings.
The culture and music scene was another highlight, with the research pointing to a lively open mic scene, and the city's numerous up-and-coming young bands, such as Jupiter Strange.
