A NEW theatre company is to take to the stage in Dunfermline offering industry-standard classes and opportunities to perform for West Fifers.
London professional performers Lucy Duffy and Jack Blundell have brought the Playhouse Theatre Company to the city and plan to present their amateur premiere of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ at Carnegie Hall in May.
Lucy, who is originally from Kinross, moved to London to train in Professional Musical Theatre at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy.
During her time, she was awarded the Singing award, Acting award and the Top of the Year award. Lucy had the opportunity to work with some of the West End’s leading actors and creatives and went on to play the leading role of Carrie in ‘Carrie the Musical’ in her final year.

Prior to training in London, Lucy directed and choreographed shows such as Oliver, Hairspray and We Will Rock You, raising over £8000 for charity.
She also played leading roles such as the Lady of the Lake in Spamalot, Christine in The Phantom of the Opera and Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie with local companies.
Lucy hopes Playhouse Theatre Company will have a hugely positive impact on the community and is excited to start work on their first show.
Jack brings over fifteen years of experience in the acting industry. After graduating with a BA Hons in Acting, he has won many awards and performed in numerous productions.
He has appeared in theatre, TV, immersive shows and commercials and worked with the likes of Mischief Theatre, The National Theatre, ITV, BBC, Netflix, The Met film School and various renowned casting directors and actors.
With their combined experience, Jack and Lucy are offering a wide variety of weekly classes in Dunfermline, including Musical Theatre, Acting and Dance, as well as Pro-training, a class designed for those who have ambitions in going to drama school or a career in performance.
These classes aim to push artistic skills to a great level and nurture talent in a fun and supportive environment.

Lucy and Jack believe that Fife has some amazing talent and they hope to inspire people to take the next steps to achieve their dreams, as well as provide a place for theatre lovers to pursue their hobby in performing in spectacular shows.
The company is now a registered charity in the hopes of making a difference to the community, both audience members and participants. Jack and Lucy would love to see more support with funding and grants for the arts to make this possible.
Playhouse classes, which will take place in the Kingsgate Hall on Pilmuir Street, are all priced at an affordable rate of £6 an hour as it is important to Jack and Lucy that industry-standard training is available locally to provide opportunities for participation by people who might otherwise be financially excluded.
The company officially opens at the end of January, making a splash with their first production in May which will see lavish costumes and sets and a live orchestra bringing the “world of pure imagination” to life.
Free audition workshops will be held on January 27 and 28 and performers of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to get involved.
The company are particularly keen to see charismatic male actors with great vocal and comedic abilities for the starring role of Willy Wonka.
To audition, you must fill in the application on the Playhouse Theatre Company website by January 21.
Tickets for the show are available online at www.onfife.com or through Carnegie Hall Box office on 01383 602302.
