Football fans could be watching Scotland matches at Dunfermline Athletic's East End Park this summer.
Talks are ongoing over the club's stadium being used as a Fan Zone for the Euro 2024 finals, which get underway in June and will see Scotland playing Germany, Hungary and Switzerland in their group matches.
Councillor James Calder, City of Dunfermline Area convener, confirmed: “We’re in talks with Police Scotland and Dunfermline Athletic FC to have a fan zone situated at KDM Group East End Park.
"We’ll provide more information once this has progressed further.”
Provost of Fife, and Pars legend, Jim Leishman thinks a fan zone in the city would be "brilliant" for Scotland fans who won't be able to go to Germany for the matches.
He said: "A lot of people won’t be able to get tickets or travel to Germany, so it would be great to see the games at East End.
"If you go all the way back to the 1960s when Dunfermline were playing West Brom, the club put a big screen up for that match and it was fantastic.
“I’m sure there would be a great response, not only from the Dunfermline area but also from the rest of Fife, especially if there’s no plans for neighbouring teams to host a similar event.
"It provides a great opportunity for anyone local to come along and support their national team.
“The team have done really well to get there so it’s important to get behind them as much as we can. I’m all for it, and if I can’t get to Germany I’d pop out to East End, that’s for sure.”
The prospect of a Euro 2024 Fan Zone in Dunfermline was previously raised by the city's MP Douglas Chapman, who also put forward an Early Day Motion at Westminster seeking government funding to set up fan zones across the country.
He said: “For those who can’t get to Germany, this is an opportunity to bring Scotland games to the big fan zone screen and allow our fans, who can’t travel, the chance to enjoy the games in a big match like atmosphere.”
Scotland qualified for this summer's tournament following a thrilling qualifying campaign, finishing second in their group behind Spain. The campaign included a 2-0 victory against Spain at Hampden and a last gasp 2-1 victory against Norway in Oslo.
