Construction on a new allotment site in Spittalfield, Inverkeithing, began this week.
Fife Council had originally been given the green light on changing the use of land on Spittalfield Road in 2019. However, the pandemic and rising costs created a hold up and the council had to re-apply in November to change the use of land.
The Press previously reported that 2,100 Fifers were on a waiting list for a council allotment.
There are also plans for a new site in Aberdour.

Fife Council's allotments officer, Peter Duncan, said: "Construction work on the new allotment site at Inverkeithing began on Monday (January 29) and is well underway. Once complete this new site will provide 37 growing spaces, along with an orchard.
"We're preparing proposals for a new site at Aberdour and we'll consult with the local community in the spring."
The works on the allotments in Spittalfield are estimated to be completed in March.
