THE importance of 600 Rosyth jobs has been highlighted in the Scottish Parliament.
Annabelle Ewing MSP spoke about posts at Mowi as she questioned the Scottish Government minister, Gillian Martin MSP, on plans to implement the recommendations of the Griggs Review.
The independent review looked at the current regulatory framework for Scottish aquaculture.
Speaking afterwards, Ms Ewing said: “With over 600 jobs involved in the production of excellent quality fresh salmon products at Mowi Rosyth in my constituency, it is clear that the Scottish aquaculture sector brings benefits to communities far and wide and not restricted to the rural settings with which people might naturally associate it.

“The figures quoted by the minister underline the very significant sums generated in GVA [Gross Value Added] by the salmon industry in Scotland and indeed the extremely high number of jobs that are supported by it across the country.
“The timeline details for implementation of the Griggs Review recommendations seemed very vague and, whilst I appreciate things cannot happen overnight some considerable time has now elapsed, and I will continue to press for progress.”
