PLANS to stop speeding on a West Fife road have been driven forward.
Members of the City of Dunfermline area committee agreed a proposal to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the C53 road between Townhill and Bowershall.
The move will now have to be approved by councillors on the South West Fife area committee as the route takes in both committee areas.
Concern has previously been raised about the section of road from the B915 at Balmule fisheries down through Bowershall and then southward, towards Townhill.

Councillor Gordon Pride welcomed the decision.
"I have to thank Townhill Community Council," he said. "They raised this again because it was originally a motion that went through the South West Fife area committee a few years back.
"This is something they very much welcome."
Councillor Gavin Ellis added that it would be "a joy" to see the speed limit on the stretch of road reduced.
