A Dunfermline grandmother has found TikTok fame with her videos garnering her over one million followers.

In 2018, Agnes (77) and her grandson Dylan King (19) started making silly videos together, and Dylan later set up a TikTok account for his grandmother.

TikTok is a social media platform in which users can create and post short videos for people to watch.

Dylan commented: “It started in 2018 when TikTok was new, and originally just a joke for friends and family. It quickly grew into something bigger than anything we could have possibly imagined.

"We continued making silly videos to an audience of just under a million until 2021, when her account was suddenly terminated, the reason for which we still don't know.

"In March 2023, after taking a long hiatus, we posted a video under a new account, went to sleep thinking nothing of it, and woke up to a million notifications.”

The TikTok page, named epicgamergrandma4, has a current total of 1.2 million followers and 51.4 million likes. Some of the videos include Agnes playing a fish game, using soundboards, and sometimes using face filters.

“My personal favourite video is actually the most popular one, with almost 40 million views, where she simply presses buttons on a soundboard and attempts to replicate the sounds.” Dylan added.

Last month, Dylan also launched Agnes’ first line of merchandise under his personal brand.

He said: “This isn't actually the first time we've tried our hands at merchandise, in 2021 we teamed up with Edinburgh-based label 'The Fresh Stuff' where we chose not to take any profits and instead use it to raise money for the British Lung Foundation and MIND.

“However working and designing alongside The Fresh Stuff helped inspire me to launch my own personal brand, 'EVERY THOUGHT CREATIVE' to create high quality streetwear at an affordable price.

“To help build my brand, I thought it'd be appropriate to collaborate with my gran and design a collection with her that was based on her. The process of creating this line was an amazing bonding experience for me and my gran.”

Now, Dylan and Agnes’ plan is to continue making content for people to enjoy.

He added: “Who knows what opportunities may come our way?”
