Dunfermline’s The Dance Academy is looking forward to their showcase later this month.
The dancers are preparing for their show at Lochgelly Theatre, and the occasion will also be a celebration of a teaching anniversary for dance teacher Lynne Sharp.
Lynne has been teaching dance for 20 years, and it will be her routine that opens the show this year.
Louise Mclauchlan, owner at The Dance Academy commented: “I have known Lynne since she was nine years old.” The pair met when Lynne turned up at a dance class in Lumphinnans. She then returned to do more classes and according to Louise “has never looked back".
“Without being mushy, she’s a second sister. We never argue, we just laugh with each other, we have got an exceptionally good working relationship and I trust her explicitly.” Louise said.

“We work completely as a team. It’s just a mutual respect and she’s just fantastic with what she does.”
Many of the dancers joined The Dance Academy when they were really young and are now with the school aged 17 or 18.
“The kids are just buzzing because they have grown up with Lynne, they have known her since they were kids.”
The Dance Academy’s shows do not have a theme to them, but one of the routines in this year’s show is Six. This routine draws inspiration from Six: The Musical, which is a British modern retelling of the lives of the six queen consorts of King Henry VIII.

Louise added: “The six girls, I gave them a huge challenge. I have dressed them as queens, and they have to mime to the music as each queen sings.
“So this is my own take because obviously the queens are tap dancing to Six.”
The show will have a mix with songs from Disney, musical dance, and Evanescence. The showcase will take place on Saturday, March 30.
Their 1.30pm show is sold out, but a few tickets are still available for the 7pm show.
“I love my job, I am the luckiest person on the planet to have Lynne work alongside me.
“The Dance Academy is us, it’s myself and Lynne, we have the best job teaching the best children.” Louise added.
