DANCERS from a Crossgates school are looking for sponsorships to support them as they represent Scotland at the World Cup this June.
The competition, which has been hailed as the 'Olympics of Dance', will see the 38 Centre Stage dancers join eight and a half thousand contestants as they battle it out over 10 days.
Louise Cameron, principal teacher and the owner and founder of Centre Stage, said: "There are 38 dancers going over and there are about 50 routines across all genres and that solos duos, trios large groups and small groups, so there's a lot going out!
"If I'm honest the kids are just ecstatic, they’re just so excited to join Team Scotland, cause we’re just one school that's a part of that and they’re just working really hard to try and do Scotland proud.
"We’re just one of 65 countries, we’re just 50 of 8500 dances so we’re actually quite small compared to what we’re going to."
With expenses for the trip piling up, not only is the school looking for sponsorship, but the individual kids are accepting support too.
Louise continued: "It's an expensive event, it's about £3,500 by the time you get their entry fees, their kit list, their flights and their accommodation.
"One company came back to us, and they are from Hey Girls UK and they sponsored a full team dance. Everyone is in one of the big group lyrical dances called Keep Breathing and they've sponsored that. We’ve had that for the whole team which was amazing.
"I know a lot of [the dancers] have been trying to get some individual sponsorship and that's been really well received but it's just dead exciting, it's just the hard work now isn't it, making sure we’re at the top of our game."
One dancer who has received sponsorship is nine-year-old Aila Wilson. Little Aila has been sponsored by Not Just Travel with Ashlie.
Her mum, Leanne, said: "We are immensely proud of Aila's achievements, she has worked so hard and is extremely excited to have qualified.
"We are still seeking further sponsorship if any other local businesses would be interested in supporting and following Aila's exciting journey to Prague."
Anyone who is interested in supporting Centre Stage as they take their dancers to the World Cup in Prague from June 27 to July 6, can reach the school through their Facebook page.
Louise added: "They’re working really hard and they’re just dead excited for June to come along."
