Volunteers with the peacocks in Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park have updated the public on the incident where a child was seen throwing a stone at the aviary.
As previously reported in the Press, police had told the volunteers that they believed they knew the child caught on CCTV, and that he was a ‘friend’ of the two boys who killed Malcolm the peacock back in 2022.
Louis the peacock was also seriously injured in that attack.
However, Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park posted a comment on their Facebook page stating: “A further update from the police is that following their lines of inquiry they have ruled out the initial suspect. They have unfortunately been unable to identify to person responsible and are still actively looking.”

Inspector Neil McGurk said: “We are aware of the incident and enquiries have been carried out. At this time, there is no evidence of any criminality.
“I would, however, remind members of the public to be mindful of keeping a safe distance from peacocks when they are within the park.”
