PLANS to repair and preserve a little piece of Dunfermline's history have been approved.
Byzantian Developments submitted an application to Fife Council to get approval to repair and relocate a date stone which was previously sited at one of the weaving sheds within the Pilmuir Works site.
The 1893 date stone was damaged during demolition work on-site, and it is now proposed to clean, repair and relocate the date stone to the Engine Shed at the Linen Quarter.
The stone will be carefully transported from Cousin's Lane where it will then be cleaned of moss, lichen, loose matter, soil, and surface dirt. It will then undergo a visual assessment to determine how it will be repaired.
Additional structural support works will be put in place to protect the stone once it has been repaired and relocated.
