A Dunfermline-based comic book writer is preparing for the publication of his new book, The Dunfermline Story.
A Fife College lecturer, and writer and illustrator, Colin Maxwell has been working on his new book for just under a year. He has also had stories published in the famous Commando comics.
As previously reported in the Press, Colin received a Scots Language Publication Grant from the Scottish Book Trust after successfully pitching The Dunfermline Story.
Speaking of his book, Colin said: “It’s been quite insightful finding out about various people that lived in the past. Not just Robert the Bruce and Andrew Carnegie and the Royal family, but about weavers from the past, and soldiers, and kind of ordinary people.”

There is also an exhibition at the community gallery at Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries promoting the book, which contains pages of artwork from it. Some local artists have also contributed to the artwork in The Dunfermline Story.
“There’s lots of artists, about 40 artists in total, I have done some of the pages, got some local artists people might recognise doing a page, or couple of pages in the book.” Colin added.
The book will be released on May 25 of this year, and it coincides with the anniversary of the Great Fire of Dunfermline.
Colin said he would describe his book “as an illustrated history of Dunfermline”.
