Fundraising for renewal of a playpark in Limekilns is now up and running.
The Limekilns Playpark Project has a fundraising target of £230,000, which is the estimated cost at this stage.
Peter Wilson, former Fife chief constable and Limekilns resident, is leading the effort for the refurbishment of Limekilns Play Park.
He said: “There was a community park built in Limekilns by a group of local residents about 20 years ago and the equipment is coming to the end of it’s life span.”
The plan is to replace and renew the equipment that is no longer suitable for youngsters. Fife Council have committed £65,000 for the park, but Peter is also trying to get the community involved in the fundraising.
As previously reported in the Press, the facilities at Limekilns have been in need of an upgrade for some time, with equipment such as the zip-wire being out of use due to safety concerns.

The community was consulted on the park when last year’s Gala was on, and one of the pieces of feedback was for the zip-wire to be reinstated.
Peter, speaking of the zip-wire, added: “That’s clearly a favourite.
“We want to keep an area for younger children and have an area for older children too.”
Fundraising will take place throughout the spring and the summer.
“We also want to make sure we have got equipment that’s accessible for all children, so all people can use it no-matter what their abilities.” Peter said.
A GoFundMe page has been created for fundraising, you can access it here.
