A Dunfermline mum has achieved the most prestigious tax qualification in the UK.
Alison Marshall, a solicitor and partner at Wright, Johnson & Mackenzie, is now a Chartered Institute of Taxation chartered tax advisor (CTA) – the gold standard in the country.
This qualification, the equivalent of a Masters degree, has a notoriously low pass rate.
Ms Marshall said: “This has been one of the most challenging processes in my career to date, and I’ve learned a huge amount over the last two years of study while balancing my workload and caring for my two children.
"One of these exams on offer had a recent pass rate of only 13 per cent. Only one of the 14 exams available had a pass rate over 60 per cent, so I’m immensely proud to have got through the process."
Ms Marshall is the second person in the firm to hold this accolade, joined only by Annie Pearson, an associate in the Glasgow office.
