Dunfermline Photographic Association has elected its first female president.
Gillian Temple, who is originally from Dalkeith but now lives in Kelty, was chosen as the club’s first ever female president. She has a range of photography accreditations including the DPAGB, LRPS and the BPE2.
“I believe I am the first lady president of the club," she said. "There’s been loads of women in the club over the years doing many roles in the club on the committee.”
This year's committee members are Alan Clark, David Bolton, Ian Monk, Gillian Temple, Ken Goodfellow, Marjory MacIntosh, David Langskill, Allan Petrie, and Dennis Brooks.
“I am the first one that’s taken this on. It’s great for the club, great for women.
“It’s great for taking things forward for the club.”
Originally a wedding photographer, Gillian joined the association in 2010. When she first started she didn’t hold any committee positions, but after a year or so, she took on the role of social secretary, before going on to become the vice president. She held that role for eight years.

While Gillian's presidency if a first, the association are also looking forward to their centenary celebrations in 2026. Gillian and some other team members have started planning for this momentous event.
While the association does not have any definitive plans yet on how they will celebrate, she added that they are “hoping to make it something special" and to include the history of Dunfermline and the history of the club.
The club is also looking for new members, who can be advanced in photography or complete beginners.
“I know the cost of living is affecting everyone," said Gillian. "However, we are keeping our costs really low to allow new members to come along and join.”
The association are running digital competitions, and are also offering a variety of trips, some of which are free to keep costs down for members.
Speaking about her new role, Gillian added: “I am looking forward to taking the club forward.”
