A driver has been banned after crashing his van into a garden fence in Dunfermline in the early hours of the morning.

Jamie Law, 35, of Sir George Bruce Road, Oakley, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on June 19 last year at Milton Green, Dunfermline, he drove a van carelessly, causing the vehicle to leave the road and collide with a garden fence causing damage.

Then at Dunfermline police station he failed to provide breath specimens.

Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson said at 2am a local resident was woken up by a loud bang which sounded like a car crashing.

He looked outside and saw two men trying to push a white van.

The police were contacted and officers arrived to find the van up against a tree and no sign of the driver.

Law was later tracked down and refused a breath test, saying: “My breathing is bad.”

Sheriff Susan Duff banned Law from driving for three years and imposed a community payback order with 180 hours of unpaid work.
