HOPE is giving way to alcohol in the centre of Dunfermline with three businesses trading places.

The Caledonian Craft Beer Merchant (CCBM) are relocating a few doors down from their current premises on Maygate. Heather Snowie Makeup Artist will be moving in.

They've agreed to buy the Hope Hairdressing salon which is also on the move to a new property in the same street.

Posting on Facebook, CCBM owner Colin Gardner said: "Quite how we've managed to keep this one from becoming public knowledge is beyond us, but this year The CCBM is going to be moving location, although not too far so don't panic.

"We've loved our time at number 22, but for us to grow the move was both necessary and inevitable.

“For years now it's been a running joke between myself and Brian (Jobson) at Hope Hairdressing that if he and Debbie ever decided to sell their beautiful salon, that we would like to have first refusal to buy it.

“Well, they decided to do just that and kindly gave us first option!

"Heather and I immediately agreed and we are currently in the process of buying 26-28 Maygate to be our new location."

Colin opened the beer business in 2019 and he added: "This is going to be an amazing space for us both to continue to grow our businesses in and we're incredibly excited for what the future will bring.”

He said they aim to relocate this year, hopefully around September.

Hope Hairdressing also posted the news on their Facebook page: “We have some news we would like to share with you. After almost 26 years of Hope, we have sold our premises.

"When Brian created Hope he had a clear vision of the salon and brand he wanted to build. Quality craftsmanship, professionalism and a high attention to detail in a beautiful environment.

“Hard work, determination, the loyalty of our customers and team made this vision a reality, and the last 26 years has been the most incredible and fruitful journey for us.

"We’ve trained countless number of hairdressers and built a very loyal clientele, many of whom have been with us since the start.

“However, we feel the time is right for us to embrace a new chapter in our lives. One which nurtures a more harmonious balance between work and family."

They added: "We are very excited to share more details about our new home and those who will be joining us.

"For now though, please be assured that it is business as usual with our current team.

"Our move won’t be for another few months and we will all keep you updated and informed every step of the way."

Hope added that they will be moving to the shop next door to the current salon, which won't be ready until August.

All appointments with the current team will stand.
