An army needs weapons, soldiers, and leaders but it also needs food and cooks to keep its soldiers fuelled.
To learn more about medieval dishes, Claire will be at the Bruce 750 Festival to introduce visitors to the kind of fare people ate in the 14th century.

Her husband is a soldier fighting in Bruce’s army, so Claire makes food for the King himself and his court.
She’ll be telling you how life in the castle and on the campaign trail looks from the kitchen. And she’ll invite you to ‘spot the difference’ between noble and peasant food.
You can hear Mistress Claire’s story, along with others, at the Bruce 750 Festival taking place at Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park this Saturday and Sunday.
Entry to the event is free and there will be mock battles, archery, live music and much more!
