TV PRESENTER and former Royal Marine JJ Chalmers will be hosting Scotland’s Salute next week.

The television presenter and former marine, who lives in Dunfermline, will be presenting at the national service of commemoration to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

D-Day was the invasion of Normandy beaches by the Allied troops during the Second World War. The event helped to liberate France and turn the tide in the battle to beat the Nazis.

Scotland’s Salute will hear about D-Day through veterans’ voices, narrated by Alasdair Hutton. There will also be a celebration of classical music from an orchestra made up of musicians from The Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland and Bands of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

They will perform alongside Dunfermline RBLS Pipe Band and members of the Military Wives Choirs.
