THERE was a real buzz among the Dunfermline Soroptimists with a visit from an international judge who tests the quality of honey.

It was all sweetness and flight as speaker Enid Brown said her love of bees has taken her around the world.

As well as tending her hives in Scotlandwell, the quest for top quality honey has seen her jet off to Chile, Brazil, Canada and South Africa.

A spokesperson for the soroptimists added: "She also made us aware how the use of pesticides and climate change have led to a loss of habitat for bees.

"However, it was encouraging to hear that to provide pollen and nectar for the bees, we can do our bit by planting bee friendly flowers in our garden such as crocus, dahlias and marigolds to mention but a few."
