EMERGENCY roadworks which brought parts of Dunfermline city centre to a halt at the weekend will be completed this week.
The surprise road closure on Holyrood Place caused traffic congestion in Dunfermline city centre over the weekend with delays for those travelling to the Bruce Festival at Pittencrieff Park.
The stretch from the mini roundabout at the bottom of Townhill Road and leading to Appin Crescent closed with a diversion in place directing traffic to use Gardener's Street, Campbell Street, Pilmuir Street and Carnegie Drive.
An Openreach spokesperson said swift action was required to fix a manhole cover.

"Openreach contractors are undertaking emergency repairs after Fife Council alerted us to defects at one of our underground maintenance holes," they stated.
"Sunken, damaged metal covers in the road pose a hazard to local road users, meaning swift action was needed.
"The work is due to be completed tomorrow morning (Tuesday) and traffic restrictions will be lifted later in the day once tar used in the road reinstatement has cooled.
"We’re sorry for any delays or disruption caused for road users during this emergency work."
