WITH Woodmill High and St Columba's set to become even nearer neighbours in the coming months, teachers have been getting in a pickle to help break the ice.

Staff have been getting a taste of pickleball ahead of the move to the Dunfermline Learning Campus in the summer.

The healthy competition was organised by St Columba's physics teacher Paul Ross and his wife, Aimee, who teaches English at Woodmill High.

Taster sessions last month were held under the watchful eye of Fife Under 60 Pickleball champion and St Columba’s Physics teacher, Claire Ryan.

Participation has been good and the schools now plan to set up a DLC Pickleball Doubles league when they arrive on the new site.

It is hoped that, with the support of the Active Sports co-ordinators, pupils will also have the opportunity to participate in the up and coming sport as well and get to know their next door neighbours.
