A DUNFERMLINE teenager is celebrating a breakthrough month after launching her music in two venues.

Singer songwriter Lori J Ritchie, 17, who went to Queen Anne High School, was invited to be a support act at the farewell gig of local band Tamanfaya at PJ Molloys.

And three weeks later she was invited by Fife musician Mike Clerk to play a short set to open his hometown event Mike Clerk & Davey Horne at the Adam Smith in Kirkcaldy.

The Dunfermline teenager has been writing songs for just under two years.

“Nobody in my family sings or anything. My mum did theatre for a bit, but that’s it.

“I began playing drums when I was nine and then I slowly started playing other instruments.” Lori explained.

Now about to start a sound production course in Glenrothes and Perth, Lori said that music has “turned into my full focus."

One of her songs, Redemption, is currently in production, and she also wrote a song about her mum, called Daisy.

“I would like to take as many opportunities as I get and go as far forward as I can.”

Now, Lori is planning on getting one of her songs released on Spotify. For that, she will need more exposure and gigs to get herself out there.

She added: “It’s a journey I have just started on.”

Lori is currently organising her next gig so does not have the details just yet, but she will announce them on her Instagram page called lori_jmusic .
