A Dunfermline-based fitness and pilates studio has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a charity fundraiser.

Inspirefit celebrated the milestone by raising money for Cancer Research UK and MacMillan Cancer Support.

They ran 10 pilates and fitness classes over the day with all the proceeds going to the two good causes.

Kelly McMahon, owner of Inspirefit, commented: “I’ve been teaching, believe it or not, for coming up for 26 years and I used to run classes in the community.

“I used to teach in different venues, community centres, different studios and then was really just looking for somewhere I could bring all my classes together to create a community in one place.

"So InspireFit was born from there 10 years ago.

“The reason we decided to do it was we sadly lost a couple of our members last year so decided not just to have a celebration to mark our 10-year anniversary but to do it to raise money to support Cancer Research and Macmillan.

“We basically ran a day of classes and all proceeds went towards both charities. We managed to raise £3,200 from that day and had a celebration afterwards.”

The last class of the day was car park Zumba, where 45 people danced their hearts out. The day also had a pink theme to it.

Kelly added: “It’s not our final figure yet, we’ve got a few other things coming up throughout the year so hopefully that total will increase.

“We’ve done a lot of fundraising over the 10 years we’ve had Inspirefit, in fact we just counted up our total and its £33,000 raised over that time for various charities.”
