A "TERRIFIED" woman feared for her life when her partner throttled her during a violent attack in Kincardine.

She escaped out of a bathroom window and ran screaming to the home of a relative.

Roy Ramsay, 34, of Henryson Road, Dunfermline, has been jailed for the shocking drunken assault.

He appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Ramsay admitted that on January 15 last year at Lansdowne Crescent, Kincardine, he assaulted his then partner.

He repeatedly seized her by the neck, threw her to the ground causing her to strike her head and placed his arm around her neck, applying pressure and restricting her breathing, all to her injury and the danger of life.

Depute fiscal Isma Mukhtar said the couple had been in a relationship from early 2022.

On the day of the offence, they had been drinking together at home and then went to a bar in Alloa.

After drinking there, they began arguing which led to the woman going home.

When she got there, she was assaulted by Ramsay. He grabbed her by the neck and threw her against a bannister.

He put pressure on her neck and she thought she was going to lose consciousness.

The woman was in fear for her life and shouted, “My kids, my kids.”

She managed to escape out of the bathroom window and ran screaming to her cousin’s home.

She was described as looking “terrified” and her cousin called 999.

Officers found the victim with a black eye, a swollen face and other injuries.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: “He doesn’t have a great recollection of it. He can’t believe he’s acted in this way but fully accepts he did.

“He had consumed a massive amount of alcohol that day.”

Sheriff Susan Duff noted that the victim had said she thought she was a “goner”.

She jailed Ramsay for two years and imposed a non-harassment order for three years.
