The parent council at Duloch Primary School are trying to raise £20,000 for a sensory room.

It will be for all of the pupils to use in numerous ways and can be adapted to the needs of different children.

If they manage to raise all the cash, the multi-sensory comfort room will be created within the school.

Heather Wilson, vice chair of the parent council, commented: “It’s for all pupils who need a bit of support, a bit of downtime, a bit of regulation.

“It will be completely open to everybody within the school area.”

The room should include a bubble tube, colour creator light curtains, a mirror for reflective play, different kinds of mood lighting and controls, a musical touch wall, a ceilingscape and a vibroacoustic lounge chair!

“It’s all very exciting, it’s very early stages at the moment,” Heather added.

This wide range of equipment should help to create a calm and safe environment and should be beneficial for pupils' mental health and those with additional needs and learning disabilities.

Now, the parent council are trying to raise the much-needed funds to make their sensory room a reality.

Recently they held a cake and candy stall at their sports day to raise funds. They will also be attending a car boot sale in partnership with That Place In The Bay on Sunday, July 21, with all the pitch fees going towards the sensory project.

The parent council have plans for a wine tasting session in August, fundraising at Christmas time and a fashion show in March of 2025.

Heather said: “In my absolute dream, I would love to have it done at the Easter holidays next year.”

A JustGiving page has been created for the project, you can access it here.
