VISITORS to the recent Bruce 750 Festival in Dunfermline have given the event a massive thumbs-up.

Almost all, 99 per cent, of those interviewed said they would recommend it to friends and family and 94 per cent said they plan to visit again next year.

Organisers Visit Dunfermline asked market research company LG Personnel to gauge the popularity of Bruce 750, which ran for the first two days of June in Pittencrieff Park.

Researchers interviewed more than 400 people as they left the Glen.

More than a third of interviewees gave the festival a 10 out of 10 score.

Billy George, of Visit Dunfermline, confirmed planning for next year’s festival was already underway.

He said: “We’re absolutely delighted at these scores. They are a tribute to the hard work our team of volunteers put in over many months.

"Thanks to great support from our sponsors Fife Council, Fife Events, Carnegie Dunfermline Trust and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we were able to put on a truly memorable show.”

Reasons for the high popularity rating included:

• So many things to do

• Very well organised

• Free

• Amazing experience

• Loved the displays

Billy added: “Just as important, we wanted to raise the profile of the city of Dunfermline, and all it has to offer as a tourism and retail destination.

"So it was great to see that one in four festival visitors came from outside Dunfermline, and 80 per cent overall said it had ‘positively influenced their perception of Dunfermline’.”
