TWO men have appeared in court today accused of assault and armed robbery at a Co-op store in Dunfermline.

It is alleged the pair brandished a knife, tied up a shop worker and injured him with a drill before stealing £2,500 in cash.

The incident took place at the Co-op store at the corner of Townhill Road and Shamrock Street at lunch-time on Saturday.

Appearing in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court were Jack Bonner and Richard Grant.

Bonner, 25, is from Lauder Street, Dunfermline and Grant, 37, from Castings Avenue, Falkirk.

It is alleged that at the Co-op store on June 15 they assaulted a shop worker, brandished a knife, forced him to the ground, tied his hands behind his back, placed a drill on his back and turned it on injuring him.

The pair are also accused of stealing a quantity of alcohol, vapes and £2,500 in cash.

They made no plea, were committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Their next court appearance will be within eight days.
