A BOGUS builder who conned people out of thousands of pounds has appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

In the dock was 24-year-old Craig Aitchison, of Sherbrooke Road, Rosyth.

He would give quotes for work, take a deposit then disappear with the money.

He admitted that on March 1 last year at Nether Currie Road, Currie, he pretended he would carry out work to renovate a room having no intention of doing it and obtained a £1,300 deposit by fraud.

Then on September 28 last year at Leadside Crescent, Wellwood, he pretended to a woman that he would install a new kitchen in her home, had no intention of doing so and obtained a deposit of £1,400 by fraud.

He also admitted that between April 21 and September 27 last year at Goulden Place, Dunfermline, he pretended to a man he would carry out building work to his home, had no intention of doing this and obtained £3,200 by fraud.

Sheriff Garry Sutherland called for reports. Bail was granted and Aitchison will be sentenced on July 17.
